Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 19, 2026
Fridgy ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Paradigm Partners LLC, a limited liability company organized under the laws of Illinois, USA. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use the Fridgy iOS application (the "App").
We've tried to write this in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us at hello@tryfridgy.app and we'll explain.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide directly
- Fridge photos you take with your device camera or upload from your camera roll. These are analyzed by AI to identify food items and generate your fridge score.
- Stock items you add, edit, or delete (food items in your fridge or pantry, with optional quantities).
- Preferences including cuisine selections, dietary restrictions (Vegetarian, Vegan, Halal, etc.), and any feedback you provide on meal suggestions (e.g., "Loved it" or "Not for us").
- Account information if you create an account: your Apple ID identifier (we never see your actual Apple password) and any optional display name.
- Communications you send to us via email or in-app feedback.
Information collected automatically
- Anonymous session ID created on first app launch (a random UUID) so we can keep your data tied to your device before you create an account.
- Cooking events recording which recipes you viewed, marked as cooked, saved, or rated. Used to personalize future suggestions.
- Subscription status indicating whether you are on the free trial, an active paid subscriber, or have lapsed.
- Device information including iOS version and app version, collected via standard iOS APIs for crash reporting and compatibility.
2. How we use your information
- To analyze your fridge photos and generate scores, commentary, and meal suggestions.
- To personalize meal recommendations based on your preferences and cooking history.
- To deliver and manage your subscription.
- To improve Fridgy — diagnose bugs, measure feature usage in aggregate, and prioritize future work.
- To communicate with you about your account, important updates, and (only if you opt in) marketing announcements.
- To comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests.
3. Third-party processors
We share data with the following service providers, who are contractually obligated to protect it and use it only as instructed by us:
- Anthropic, PBC — Your fridge photos are sent to Anthropic's Claude AI for image analysis (identifying food items, generating scores and commentary). Photos are processed in real-time and not retained by Anthropic for training purposes. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- Supabase, Inc. — Hosts our database (accounts, stock items, cooking events, subscription status). Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
- Spoonacular — Provides recipe data and recipe images for meal suggestions. We send your ingredient list (no personally identifying information) so it can match recipes. See Spoonacular's Terms.
- RevenueCat, Inc. — Manages your subscription status across devices. Receives an anonymous user identifier and subscription events. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Apple Inc. — Handles Sign in with Apple authentication and processes subscription payments. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not share your data with advertisers.
4. Data retention
We retain your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account from within the app (Account → Sign Out → Delete Account), we permanently delete:
- All fridge photos and their AI-generated analyses
- Your stock items, cooking events, and preferences
- Your account identifier
Subscription records are retained as required by tax and accounting laws (typically 7 years), but in anonymized form.
5. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Deletion — delete your account and associated data in-app, or request deletion by email
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Opt-out — opt out of any marketing communications
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@tryfridgy.app from the email tied to your account. We aim to respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to delete it. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email above.
European Economic Area & UK (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA or UK, our legal basis for processing your data is (a) the performance of our contract with you (providing the Fridgy service), (b) your consent where applicable, and (c) our legitimate interests in improving the service. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
6. Children's privacy
Fridgy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@tryfridgy.app.
7. Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we do our part to keep your data safe.
8. International transfers
Fridgy is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the app from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US. By using the app, you consent to this transfer.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the new policy.
